Planning and Development
Zakir Hussain Zakir serves as Director of Planning and Development at the University of Baltistan, northern Pakistan. He holds a PhD in Education from Aga University in Karachi and possesses considerable practical experience as a cryo-engineer in his home region of Baltistan, where he collects local knowledge and experiments with new approaches to harvest snow and ice. His expertise was sought after for a UN initiative on glacial lake outburst floods (GLOF-II) and various documentaries on the indigenous technique of glacier grafting.
Dr. Zakir Hussain Zakir is at CAS upon the invitation of Dr. Anna-Maria Walter (CAS Researcher in Residence/LMU) during the summer semester 2025.
